The Computer Research Institute of Montréal (CRIM) has been subvented $20 million by the minister of economy and innovation in Quebec, Pierre Fitzgibbon, to support its applied research activities in digital technologies and its operations over the next five years.

In addition, the Government of Québec, through the Research and Innovation Support Program, is providing CRIM with $2,019,179 to support its Computing and storage infrastructure for research and development project.

In collaboration with its clients and partners, CRIM will continue to develop innovative technologies and cutting-edge know-how in information technology and artificial intelligence, which will be shared with Québec businesses and organizations to help them better harness the power of data and become more efficient and competitive.

As for the Computing and storage infrastructure for research and development project, it consists of acquiring computer equipment required for CRIM's scientific program. It aims to provide the Centre with a minimum internal computing capacity that will enable it to respond rapidly to certain requests from companies with specific security or other requirements.

"Our government's support for CRIM will intensify applied research in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence for the benefit of businesses in Quebec. We are often reminded that innovation is essential in the context of economic recovery. With this announcement, we are encouraging our businesses to improve their performance and competitiveness," said Pierre Fitzgibbon, minister of economy and innovation.
